We host our workshop on the unceded land of the Duwamish people.
The Duwamish are the First People of present-day Seattle, and are the original stewards of this land. Since time immemorial, the Duwamish Tribe has maintained their ancestral home in traditional, sustainable ways for the benefit of all.
Seattle is built upon and thrives on the lands of the Duwamish People, and the City still carries the name of the Tribe’s most well-known leader, Chief Si’ahl (Seattle). To learn more about the Duwamish Tribe's fight for federal recognition, and how you can support them, check out Real Rent Duwamish at the link below. |
Who We Are
In 1977, Ingraham High School alum David Boushey returned to Seattle from East 15 Acting School to found the Society of American Fight Directors. In 1985 he founded the United Stuntmen's Association, and the International Stunt School in 1991.
Today, we're renewing our commitment to Seattle as a gathering place for stage combat practitioners with The Seattle Sockeye. |
The Seattle Sockeye is co-hosted by two local organizations. First, Latitude Theatre, a Seattle-based theatre company focusing on translated works, exploring our world through the lens of parallel realities, and fostering the Seattle theatre community.
Our other host is Performers' Forge, an organization dedicated to providing performing artists resources in the field of stage combat. They are dedicated to the education, training, and safety of stage combat while simultaneously providing community outreach to the theater and film community with choreography, stunts, and consultation. |
The Sockeye is housed in rehearsal rooms belonging to Theatre Puget Sound, an organization that works to foster and advocate for a robust and equitable theatre community, and the Seattle Center, an active civic, arts and family gathering place in the core of our region.
