Scholarships

Applications for 2025 are now closed.

In 2025, we'll offer two full tuition scholarships to the workshop. They are:

One PGM/BIPOC scholarship

Our goal is to address gaps where historically marginalized artists might have been discouraged from seeking and progressing in secondary training in the arts. In an effort to foster diversity in stage combat, and theatre as a whole, The Seattle Sockeye has implemented a "People of the Global Majority Scholarship". This scholarship is open to applicants who identify as the Global Majority/BIPOC and intend to further their studies. The recipient will receive one (1) full tuition scholarship to attend the 2025 Seattle Sockeye stage combat workshop. Below are the qualifications and processes for applying to this scholarship.

To qualify, candidates must:

- Represent and identify as Global Majority/BIPOC
- Demonstrate a strong desire for learning stage combat and furthering the arts' community through their work
- Demonstrate their need (not necessarily financial) for this scholarship
- Have intention of attending the 2025 Seattle Sockeye stage combat workshop

One honorary David Boushey scholarship

David Boushey was a pioneer in helping to found and develop the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD). His drive and passion for the craft helped to pave the way for so many folks looking to foster safe and brilliant storytelling from small theaters to the silver screen. In honor of the Maestro's trailblazing spirit, the Seattle Sockeye has created the [INSERT NAME] scholarship. This scholarship is open to applicants who are still early in their training, but have demonstrated a strong desire to continue their training in stage combat. The recipient will receive one (1) full tuition scholarship to attend the 2025 Seattle Sockeye stage combat workshop. Below are the qualifications and processes for applying to this scholarship.

To qualify, candidates must:
- Represent the scholarship's purpose and values
- Demonstrate a strong desire for learning stage combat and furthering the arts' community through their work
- Demonstrate their need (not necessarily financial) for this scholarship
- Have intention of attending the 2025 Seattle Sockeye stage combat workshop
